A simple mnemonic to diagnose Iron-deficiency anemia


There are six lab tests to confirm Fe-deficiency anemia.

Mnemonic is

- Decrease FHM
- Increase TTR

F = Ferritin
H = Hemoglobin
M= MCV (Mean Copuscular Volume)
T = TIBC (Total Iron Binding Capacity)
T = Transferrin
R = RDW (red cell distribution width)
