Q; Why placing ureteral stents in hydronephrosis caused by Intra-Abdominal Compartment Syndrome, may not completely resolve the acute renal failure?

Answer: Direct compression of renal parenchyma accompanied with decrease renal perfusion is the actual cause of acute renal failure in intra-abdominal-compartment-syndrome. Resolution of intra abdominal hypertension is the key to treatment. Uretral stents may help in easing the problem but may not completely resolve the problem.
