Q: Methydopa is still a useful anti-hypertensive in use for gestational hypertension. In which organ failure it should be use with caution / lower dose?

Answer: Renal failure

Methyldopa is widely use in third world countries in gestational hypertension and is on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines. Methyldopa is largely excreted by the kidney and patients with decrease renal function may require smaller doses.
