Q: Which drugs beside
glucocorticoids may increase the risk of Propofol infusion syndrome (PRIS) in
ICU ?
Answer: Catecholamines
Many triggering and predisposing factors for
PRIS have been identified, but to all of them the priming factor is critical illness, particularly neurologic
injury, trauma, sepsis or pancreatitis - beside age, cumulative dose of
propofol, infusion of catecholamines, corticosteroids and
interestingly inadequate delivery of carbohydrates.
