Although in the past corticosteroids, particularly dexamethasone, have been tried in HELLP syndrome, evidence has failed to show any benefit. Prompt delivery remained the ideal treatment.
It did not show any change in maternal death, severe maternal morbidity, perinatal/infant death, the time to recovery of platelet counts and/or aspartate aminotransferase levels, or the frequency of complications.
