One third of patients undergoing a (CoreValve) transcatheter aortic valve implantation procedure may require a PPM. Followin factors may effect the need:
- Periprocedural atrioventricular block,
- balloon predilatation,
- use of the larger CoreValve prosthesis,
- increased interventricular septum diameter and
- prolonged QRS duration
